“This is a Guest Post by Harish Krishna of Blogging Kid. He is new in the blogging world, quite young yet has a great sense in blogging and related field. Check out what he has to say about some of the mistakes new blogger makes.”

Every day so many blogs are being created. Nowdays most of the bloggers are teenager and yet are beginners. To be honest they’ll only know how to host and set up the blog. And some basics of blogging. Its true that each and every blogger including does and have done mistakes in blogging. Even a person may be a pro in blogging he is sure to make mistakes.

5 Blogging MistakesI bet even Darren Rowse and even John chow would have made mistakes. I have seen them posting about the mistake they made on their blog. So Mistake happen. You must learn from your mistakes. And I hope That’s how I have become better than a beginner.

So as a beginner every blogger does some mistake. It may be huge or a small one. So here are the most frequent mistakes done by a beginner blogger.

1. Not Having A Self Hosted Blog

There are lots of blogspot bloggers tending to make money or even blog with a blogspot blog or a wordpress.com blog. They do not want to spend even a dim. Of course there are lots of peoply who are making money are feeling great blogging with blogspot or wordpress blog. But they do not have all the features that a self hosted blog has. So you are only wasting time blogging with a wordpress blog. And the worst thing is that you will not get any comments in a blogspot blog. Its my own experience. I have had a blogspot blog. But though the content was good I could not know the visitors attitude towards my blog. So its really a waste of time. So I would recommend starting a self hosted blog.

“Spending a little won’t hurt you much”

2. Choosing An Unknown Niche

Its really common among beginners. Niche plays a great role in blogging. There are millions of niches to choose from. The only thing is that you have to know some thing about the niche. You cannot start a blog without knowing about the niche. If you start such a blog then its for sure you are the one who is going to suffer for writing articles. So choose a suitable niche which are the most aware of.

3. Not Promoting your blog

I have lots of beginners not promoting their blog. There is no use of having a blog without traffic. If you don’t have traffic then the blog is worth only for you. You’ll blog will attiain fame only when you take step to promote it. There are lots of easy ways to promote your blog.

4. Not linking to Other Blogs

I have seen lots of blogs whose blogroll has only two to three links. That’s really little if you gotta aim for more backlinks. So linking a little bit would help us a lot.

5. Spending Too Much Money

“Beginners having blogspot bloggers are placed one site”. On the other side there are also people who spend like crazy but never get benefited out of it. They spend too much on many thing but the never utilize what they bought.

So I would recommend you not to spend more in getting works done.

1. Using Blogger isn’t that bad. There are a few benefits of using it. It should definitely be an option to a new blogger. Here’s another look at it: http://www.twentysteps.com/the-benefits-of-blogger/

2. Really good point here. You may think that you know enough to blog about a topic, but once you get going you might find out that you don’t. You have to be basically an expert to have a topic to write about everyday.

3. It depends on what your motive is. Having a blog for yourself isn’t always a bad thing. Also, you don’t have to promote your blog as much if you use Blogger.

4. Again, it depends on your motives. If you want to build backlinks and look at blogging from an SEO point of view, you can build links. If you just want to blog for fun, why take the time?

5. Not sure what you’re going for here. People spend money to blog?

Informative article. A few areas where I disagree, though.

Austin, I agree Blogger is good. I had many happy experiences with it. It goes well with Search Engines too.

If there is a beginner here. I would surely recommend him to use blogger. Use it for 2-3 months. Then you can move to self hosted WordPress at any time. I started with Blogger. My blog was on blogger for more than 4 months. I then decided to move to self Hosted WP as I needed expansions for my blog.

@Austin – I agree with you. I too do not mean you should not start with a blogspot blog if he is a dummy in blogging. But if you know about blogging but new to it, there is no use of having a blogspot. Its really a waste of time.

You are wrong. Blogging on blogger is not a mistake. The main thing is that you should have your own domain. Using blogspot name is not good. And blogger has enough options, you should learn to utilize. When I used to blog on blogger I never regretted.
