Blog Post Frequency or Blogging Frequency is a debatable issue both for readers subscribers and publishers bloggers. It is more of a concern for the Blogger as Blog Post Frequency matters.
It was a frequent debate long ago and now a days not many think of it. But for me it is a still a great concern and needs attention. This topic is a concern for the bloggers out there who are at the stage from where they are not able to advance any more. If you are a blogger and your improvement seems to negligible, your posting frequency might be a reason.
Before we go on to the topic on how to decide your blog post frequency, we should look into what are the affects of different types of posting frequency. I have divided the frequency into three types.
- High – Daily blog updates or may be 2-3 posts a day.
- Average – 3-4 blog updates a week.
- Low – a post a week
We will talk about the first two types. I will be not taking about the low frequency as regular bloggers mostly do not fall in this category. The effect we will talking about is losing subscribers. We will be taking two situations here. First you have a nice subscriber base say 400-500 and above. In this case having a high frequency is preferred if you are able to provide nice content daily. Having average frequency also does not affect much. It may help to retain subscribers for long time though.
The next situation is not having much os subscribers base. Blogging frequency affect blogs of this type. If you are unable to create good contents than high post frequency is dangerous. You will loose subscribers rapidly. You may consider average posting speed. But average posting speed also has a disadvantage. You will not be able to stuff up your blog with more content (I mean more pages – though it is not much of a concern).
So lets come to the main issue, “How to Decide your Blog Post Frequency?”
I will say it depends. If you have a nice subscriber base you may not need to worry much about you posting speed until few of you subscribers complain about it. If you feel like changing your gears asking you readers is the best idea. Though I will not say to totally depend on that, believe in your natural instincts as well.
Now bloggers with low base subscribers or beginners in particular should make a decision according to their niche. For example if your niche in tech news or health tips or blogging tips etc daily updates is good. Blog with MMO as their niche do not need to should not update daily as it gets spammy afterwards. Personal blogs do not require regular updating. So understand your niche and decide accordingly. You much ensure one more thing, that is create at least 2-3 awesome articles every week. Subscribers will build up slowly.
Deciding posting speed is quite thought provoking. What do you say? What is you blogging frequency? Does it matter to you? Do you have any suggestions?

Deciding the posting frequency of the Blog depends on different cases..On those basis, we should decide which is the best suitable for our Blog! For example: If you decide that your posting frequency should be 2 posts per day and you are feeling bored to write a post, then better not write it rather than writing a crappy post in a Bad mood! This will have bad effects on your readers for sure!
Ya you are right. It depends on your situation too.
Really depends. Since a blog is a blog, it can vary for 3-4 a week to none week… Take myself as an example.

I think that you should post as much or as little as needed, meaning that as long as you’re adding quality content the amount of posts you put up shouldn’t matter.
Of course, if you can’t come up with anything quality for a long time in between, you probably shouldn’t be covering that topic. Kudos to your site, I like what I’ve been reading so far.

Thats right and you seems to have good knowledge about writing. Look forward to more participation from you.
I was posting a lot there for a while (almost every day). But I found it was quite exhausting, and it meant that the quality of my posts was lower (and the length shorter).
Also, I found that frequent blog posting generally didn’t increase my traffic as I thought it would. On the contrary, it seemed to go up if I slowed down a little! (Maybe these two things were not related, but just seemed to be.)
In any case I’ve decided to slow down my posting frequency so I can find time for other things, and also craft better, longer posts.
