Each and every writer in this world wants his/her work to seen and appreciated. Many writers on Internet know how important is it to optimize you articles not just for the eyes of readers but also for the search bots. Writers need to make use of keyword properly. Bloggers and all writes on Internet know it as Keyword Optimization.
SEO People and SEO Company (the people who charge money for doing simple things which a fool can do too) put a great emphasis of Keyword Optimization. They say it is a time taking and difficult work. It needs lot of attention. And I say they are right but (yes there is a ‘but’ everywhere) you can do it too. It is easier done then said.
Yes it is the truth. The only reason these SEO people make money is because either you are too lazy to do the work yourself or too rich not to do it yourself (Did I said rich, yap! those money waster). Anyways I am not rich and even though I am a little lazy, I play smart.
How to play smart in SEO Oops! KO (knock! Knock! There is nothing like this). Oh! Sorry I meant Keyword Optimization of your post. Before you read this article further read the paragraph below carefully.
First of all Keyword Optimization is as easy as easy but can be as difficult as difficult. This line may sound stupid but the thing is it is sometime difficult and sometime easy. It depends on what you write and how you write. The tip I am going to give is risky. It may even do negative effect. So use it at your own risk. It needs to be implemented with care. And most importantly this is done after writing and publishing your article or post. If you do Keyword Optimization before publishing then this may not be for you.

So you have decided to read on. Congratulation this 99$ valued SEO or KO (whatever) tip is free for you.
What you need?
An already written and published article. A little bit of brain for deciding what is good and what is not. A cup of coffee or Tea and if you like some snacks (we are going to enjoy and do our work). A Keyword Research Tool which can extract and suggest keywords from a given URL. I advice use of Google Adword Keyword Tool.
What to do?
I am assuming you are using Google Adword Keyword Tool (you should use this as Google is Google). On the Google Keyword tool you have two options to generate Keyword Idea. Choose the “Website Content” option. Now enter in the Permalink/URL of the article/blog post. You will get many suggested Keywords and Key Phrases. These suggested terms mostly used for searching by we people. Our work is to tell Google and other Search Engines (Yahoo, Bing, Ask, etc) we want to bid (no money involved) for the terms, for our article to appear in top search engine results.

Now that you have clearly understood what is our aim, it is time for action. Now here the brains are needed. There will lots of suggested Keywords and Key Phrases. You have to choose the Keywords which match your article idea/theme and which are lucrative (with more daily searches). It is advisable to choose some of the Long Tail Keywords from the list. Make a list of 10-15 good Keywords.
If you are blogger, using the list for SEO is very easy especially if you use WordPress. You need a well known plug-in called “All in One SEO“ (I believe most of you already have this plug-in). Go to your blog Dashboard and edit the post for which you searched the Keywords. Now you just have to put the list of selected Keywords in the appropriate place i.e. Keyword option of All in One SEO on the Edit Post page of the article/post. Now the keywords you put in become Keyword Meta Tags and suggest bots to concentrate on those keywords.
If you are on other blog platform then you have to figure out some way to put the Keywords in the Meta Tag of the article/post page. If you have a static html page then you can put Keyword Meta Tags manually. If you find/think using Meta Tag is not very good idea then use Keywords as simple post/article tags. If you use simple tags you may not be able to target the Long Tail Keywords.
Now there is an advanced tip for better use of the suggested Keywords too.
This is not for people who do not have time and are not good at writing or reverse engineering articles (article modifications).
Here is how it works.
Some suggested Keywords may be lucrative but those words may not be in your article. But you want to use them in your Meta Tag or as Post Tags. Now what you have to do is add or rewrite some of the sentences using the keywords. Mostly you do not need to do much change. Only small changes will work perfectly. This also ensures that Search Engine do not think that you are just stuffing Keywords. For example you wrote an article on Money Making and you got a Keyword suggestion “Free Money Making†then choose few sentences where you used “Money Making†and just add “Free†to it.
What are the advantages of this?
First of all you do not have to waste time on Keyword Research before writing your article. Secondly this tip is useful for less smarter people too. You get ready made Keywords and Key Phrases (Long Tail Keywords) from Google itself. You do not have to think much. You can write your article from you heart and are not forced to make use of keywords.
What are the disadvantages?
Doing Keyword research is a very good idea. It results in a better Search Engine Optimized article. Writing article without keyword research may put you back in the competition. Your article may need to be edited if you want to target the keyword you discovered during this process. Keyword Tools are not perfect they many a time miss crucial Keywords.
What do you think of the tip I provided? How many of you have tried it or heard of it? Do you think it is risky? Do you think it is a good way of optimizing article for Search Engines? Can you call this a SEO? Share your opinion and lets us know.
Alert: If you did not read the post clearly/properly you may end up getting yourself banned by Google.

Very interesting tip. I never thought of doing this but maybe I should give it a try on some of the posts that I’m already ranking okay for, see if I can get them even higher.
Nice intro to the post, by the way

Ya, you are right, using unrelated keywords is bad. But, I am also talking about excessive use of keywords! If you want to rank higher for the keyword “hacks”, then the basic tendency is to use the word hacks everywhere possible, but if you use this word excessively without any relevance and if this word appears more than 3 times in your Title tag, then Google might think that you are a Spam.

Thanks for these tips.
I agree, you can benefit greatly from doing lots of keyword research. But there is a downside: It can take a lot of time. If you do it for every blog post, you’ll probably halve the time you had for writing! In the long run that might mean that you have quite a bit less content up there.
Sure, you’ll probably be getting more traffic to the content you do have. But then getting traffic shouldn’t be the only measure of success. Having lots of quality content is important, too, particularly if you want to establish yourself as an expert in your field.
Yup you are right that keyword research takes time and may decrease the quality of post. But if you read my post clearly what tips I gave take only 10 minutes. IF you are taking more than that then you are dumb. I have not given tips to do keyword research but keyword optimization.
I think we always need to find a balance between SEO and writing the article that you wants. If you just write whatever you want (*without considering SEO), then you’re not building your blog as a business, but just as a personal project. Thanks, Deepak for this great tuts.

Keywords (and keyword research) is a central component of building a successful online business. the reality is that it (keyword research) affects every other step in marketing a website. In other words, if you target the wrong keywords, you will be wasting your time and, more importantly, your money.
I have become very successful in finding the right keywords now but I couldn’t have done it without my keyword tool. If you are facing the same problem read my story and get the traffic going.
