Twitter is just not about getting more and more Twitter Followers but about building relationship with people. For this you need to find good and nice people whom you can follow and talk to. Twitter is a place where people love to share their life and many more things.
Finding good people is not easy. Human have this peculiar nature of finding faults in others people that they do not want to trust others. But you need to suppress this nature of yours and follow some people and then build relationship with them. Now you may be thinking where to find people to follow on Twitter.
Well I have compiled a few sources for you. They are below.
- Twitter – You want to follow people on Twitter, so its a obvious source, isn’t it? To Find people you need to click the Find People link on Twitter (after signing in). You can find people by name,username etc. You can also try suggested users (not recommended) or find your friends on other networks like Gmail,Yahoo etc.
- Twitter Holic – Twitter Holic is a service which ranks Twitter Users according to Twitter Followers. They have list of Top 1000 Twitter Users. I do not recommend following most of the Top 200s but there are some popular and nice Twitter there. Look once through the List you will find nice people. It may take time but will do good in long run.
- We Follow – We Follow is a Twitter Directory where you can list yourself. All registered Twitter Users define their profiles with few tags. You can find people using this tags. For example if you want to see Twitter users who are bloggers, then see for blogger tag. This way you can find like minded people. There are many tags available.
- Just Tweet It – Just Tweet It is also a Twitter Directory but it is manually maintained. Here also users list themselves using tags or rather categories. This directory is not very large, so finding people won’t be difficult. This will also help in finding like minded people.
- Twellow – Twellow is probably the largest Twitter Directory and most well maintained. In this directory twitter users have extended Bio information and their profiles is tags using different keywords. You can use it to unfollow people but it is best used to find people who may have same interest as yours.

Somehow I believe in following only those people whom I know personally or official twitter account of big websites which is helpful to keep track of updates. Else we might miss important updates in enormous noise from every one updates…

I was using “Twitter Holic” at one point of time, but the people are so busy in themselves that they don’t have time to make a healthy relationship which I am always looking for!

Twitter is such a strange beast to me. For the Whales who have genuine followers, they have tremendous influence with their tweets. For those who are just part of a follow train, even 100,000 followers don’t really matter…
I’m over trading follows. If someone is interesting, I’ll follow regardless of if they follow me. I’m not just going to follow someone because they are following me.
Greedy people want a ton of followers. Ironically, it doesn’t do them much good since their followers aren’t really following them.

i like to keep the followers count small as following every ppl out would get messy. i like loyal followers who are much active with real tweets
