Make money with Google

This is first post of my Google knowledge series. I will now tell you how Google can be help you make money online. I will review two of the Google products. One is the well known money making method Google Adsense and other is a result of Google’s recent acquisition of DoubleClick.

First let’s talk about Google Adsense.

Google Adsense: Earn money from ads

Probably most of the webmasters know about Google Adsense. It is considered the most easy way of earning money (some people may have different views). It is very simple using Google AdSense. You just go to Google Adsense homepage and apply for Google Adsense program (you need a Google or Gmail Account or you can make it at that moment). Once you are taken into their program you just need to put some codes on you Website or Blog and Ads start appearing on your Website or Blog. Google Adsense is a PPC and PPM service. PPC means pay-per-click i.e. you gat paid when someone click on the ads (do not even think of clicking ads on you own website, you will be banned and get no earning). PPM means paid-per-thousand impression. They rarely pay by PPM method. You will get paid by PPM method only if you are getting good click conversion rate.

Now you know how Google Adsense works. But the main question is, whether it is for you or not? I believe that every webmaster should give Google Adsense a try. You never know if it will work for you or not until you try. If you website got a decent traffic (more than 500 visitors per day) than you should give Adsense a try. I have seen people earning more than 100$ per day from Adsense. I know of a Blogger who earned some 999$ from Adsense in one day (he has also got high traffic of more than 10,000 visitors per day).

My Take and Review: I personally consider Adsense to be a good method of earning money. I have not earned much from it but that is due to my own faults. I used it on my first blog which died in two months due to bad hosting. But from that blog I earned nearly 3$. Then I put Adsense here on this blog just 2 months ago. I have not given much expose to Google Adsense but I believe now it will perform well. This blog is doing well and my traffic is increasing slowly. If you believe Adsense will work for you, just sign-up for it and start making money.

Now we will talk about the other new method. It is new (actually it is not) so I have not much of Information. This new service is called Google Affiliate.

Google Affiliate: New Affiliate (Result of acquisition of DoubleClick Performics)

Google now into affiliate market! sounds interesting. Those who are current member of Adsense might already be informed about this service. Google mailed all of its Adsense member, letting them know that Google Referrals will die in August and who ever wants, can join the new Google Affiliate. This service is a result of Google acquisition of DoubleClick in March 2008 which already owns Performics. Performics was founded as the first full-service affiliate network in 1998 and was acquired by DoubleClick in 2004. Today Performics Affiliate operates as Google Affiliate Network and remains committed to delivering affiliate channel growth for advertisers and publishers. So now Google owns Performics and it was modified into Google Affiliate.

Google affiliate sign-up and sign-in takes place at ConnectCommerce website. ConnectCommerce is the reporting and tracking platform that powers Google Affiliate Network. Google is dedicated to providing the best possible user experience, so it integrated Google Affiliate Network brand into ConnectCommerce website. It is to be noted that it is not currently integrated with Google Accounts and you have to continue to use your ConnectCommerce username and password to log in. If anyone is interested in affiliate market he can give this new service a try. Below is some info from the Google Affiliate page.

Google Affiliate Network offers:
  • Industry-leading advertiser and publisher service
  • Rigorous network quality standards
  • Reliable conversion tracking
  • Detailed reporting
  • Automated payments to publishers
  • Simple link and creative delivery tools
  • Flexible commissions
  • Access to top brands on the web

My Take: Performics is already an established affiliate network (though we do not know about it) so it is clear that they would provide good service. Now it is acquired by Google which means it will be getting more users. I will be signing up for this service to test it. There sign-up form looks more like a legal document. They are strict in accepting members. If any one of you wants to know about this service visit Google Affiliate page or the new Google Affiliate blog (there are only 2 posts).

Google Adsense is awesome. However, I signed up in my early days of being an online entrepreneur…and by stupidity I clicked on my own ads thinking I could make some easy money. Turns out now I am banned from Google Adsense FOR LIFE!!!
DAMMIT!

I’ve been making money with Google for a long time now. Especially with ppc ads.
